Altamont partners with FLIK Independent School Dining (FISD) to provide delicious and nutritious food thoughtfully and lovingly prepared by an expert team of chefs and dieticians.

As the premier foodservices provider for independent schools, FISD delivers meals and moments that nourish the whole person and create community. That promise extends to all Altamont students, staff and guests regardless of food allergies or specific dietary needs. FISD joyfully takes on the responsibility of fostering healthy relationships with food, presents opportunities to expand the palate, and goes beyond the plate by offering culinary life skills programs – not to mention fun!

A World of Options

At Altamont, you can expect delicious and abundant options each meal. Menus are designed by on-site chef James Hardin with your preferences and the best local ingredients in mind. Chef Hardin receives input from Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Nicole Tass, seasoned culinary leadership, and student wellness experts.

We make space at the table for all to feel welcome, seen, and cared for. In addition to celebrating heritage and traditions through special themed feasts, FISD invites the school community to explore a wide world of flavor via dishes and programs that expand both palates and minds.

Support for Restricted Diets

With FISD, you need not feel limited by allergies or dietary restrictions. Varied options are available every day, with clear signage and direction to protect the individual. The on-site team receives support from registered dietitians regarding training, operation management and communication to ensure safety.

Food Standards

We believe nutrition and flavor should go hand in hand. We create meals that students enjoy and parents can feel good about. Our team of professional chefs and registered dietitians work together to develop menus that are:

  • Age-appropriate
  • Balanced and nutrient-rich
  • Appealing to developing palates

Meals are made with:

  • Fresh fruits and vegetables, locally sourced whenever practical
  • Milk and yogurt from cows not treated with rBGH or rBST
  • Turkey and roast beef roasted in-house
  • Cage-free shell eggs
  • Antibiotic-free poultry and pork
  • Hormone-free, humanely raised beef
  • Sustainable seafood (following Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch guidelines)

We believe fresh is best. We prepare meals from scratch, using whole ingredients and minimizing processed and packaged items whenever possible. We avoid:

  • Artificial colors and flavorings
  • Preservatives
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats)

Menus will be posted starting with the first week of the school year.
