Top Four State Finishes for Cross Country Teams

Altamont's cross country teams capped off a strong season with top finishes at the 2017 AHSAA 1A/2A Cross Country State Championship, held on November 11 at Oakville Indian Mounds State Park in Danville. The boys team placed 3rd with 78 points, 1 point away from Cold Springs and a runner up trophy. All-State honors went to James Dixon (4th place), Spencer Skidmore (6th place) and Asher Desai (8th place). Darian Sanders and Dylan Lyall rounded out Altamont's top 5 scorers.

The girls team finished 4th, but were separated from a runner up trophy by only a few points. Top five scorers for the team were Mary Allen Murray (14th place), Ariel Dean (17th), Adele Benson, Arden Campbell, and Sofi Gaitan-Wolfe.

Both the girls and boys teams placed 2nd at the State Qualifying Sectional meet, which was held on November 2 at Cold Springs High School in Bremen. All-Sectional girls were Mary Allen Murray (3rd), Ariel Dean (7th), Adele Benson (8th), Sofia Gaitan-Wolfe (9th), and Allie Ritchie (10th). All-Sectional boys were James Dixon (1st), Asher Desai (2nd), and Spencer Skidmore (4th). Congratulations on an outstanding season!
