The 2019-20 School Year is Underway!
Julie Beckwith

Altamont has started the 2019-20 school year with new faces and new spaces. This year the school welcomed 74 new students in grades 5-12 from 37 different schools and 20 different zip codes, bringing our total enrollment to 356. Altamont's largest grade is 9th with 59 students, including 10 new students. Our middle school also experienced significant growth with 25 new 5th graders, 18 new 6th graders, and 13 new 7th graders.

In addition to new students, Altamont has four new faculty and staff members: Alesha Dawson-10th grade English, Steve Mitchell-athletic director, Nadia Barajas-Spanish teacher, and Lee Quinn-debate coach.

This summer, construction was completed on two exciting areas. The Orange Bowl Student Center features moveable furniture for increased student collaboration, as well as plentiful natural light and an inviting space for students to relax and socialize. The Jim Palmer Reading Garden is a beautiful new outdoor classroom and student gathering area with adirondack chairs and thoughtful landscaping. We are grateful to all of the donors who helped make these wonderful new additions to the school possible.
