Altamont distinguished itself again at the Alabama Junior Classical League Convention they co-hosted with Samford University, Feb. 24-25, 2017. Altamont Latin students secured 13 state titles, including the coveted certamen championship for the tenth time in the past eleven years. Joining certamen team members James Patterson, Aaron Miller, Jeet Patel, and Kuleen Sasse as state title holders are repeat state mythology bee champion Ajani Salvary, Spencer Skidmore, Lisa Zhu, Asher Desai, John O'Brien, Naren Jetty, James Gregory, Max Renfro, Lucy Pless, and Afra Ashraf.
