Indoor Track Caps Season at State

Altamont's varsity indoor track and field teams capped their season with medals and top 10 finishes at the AHSAA 1A-3A state meet, held at Birmingham CrossPlex, Feb. 5, 2021.

Carson Hicks is the state champion for the 60m dash and she captured the bronze medal for the 400m dash. Kaia Todd is the state champion for the 60m hurdles and she captured the bronze medal for the 60m dash.

Both the boys (Matthew Poczatek, Aaron Swiney, Jesse Hungerpiller, Jack Langloh) and girls (Amelia Neiman, Lily Davis, Kate Nichols, Carson Hicks) 4x400 relay teams are state champions.

Both the girls 4x200 relay team (Lily Davis, Amelia Neiman, Merritt Fulmer, Kaia Todd) and the boys 4x800 relay team (Jack Nichols, Gage Bell, Aaron Swiney, Jesse Hungerpiller) captured silver medals.

Overall, the girls team finished 4th and the boys team finished 5th in the state.

Jack Nichols set a new indoor school record in the 1600m (4:39) as did our boys 4x800 relay (8:49).
