French Convention Features Outstanding Individual, Group Performances

At the Alabama State French Convention, held on March 8, 2019, at the University of Alabama, our students brought home a total of 29 individual and group awards. Congratulations to all our students on their outstanding performances.

Scholars Bowl Team Competition

Our team of Vivek Sasse (captain), Caroline Lee, Eleanor Roth, Simms Berdy and Lauren Perry won Supérieur (First Place).

Individual Oral Competitions

Level I: Parker Denson won a Très Bien award.

Level II: Temple Coleman won a Supérieur award.

Level III: Jeffrey Youngson won a Très Bien award.

Advanced: Caroline Lee won a Très Bien award.

Group Skits

Level I/II: "Why is Mona Lisa so Famous?" won a Supérieur award.

Level III-Adv: "Jealou(vre)sy" won a Grand Prix* award and Best Theatrical Presentation.

Choral Competitions

Solo: Cricket Davis won a Très Bien award for "Le Louvre".

Group: Our trio of Reese Alexander, Cricket Davis, and Matthew Poczatek won a Supérieur award for "Auprès de ma blonde".

Extemporaneous Reading

Level I: Jack Langloh won a Très Bien. Parker Denson won a Supérieur award.

Level II: Sophia Sultan won a Supérieur award.

Level III: Robert Hannah won a Supérieur award. Nyasia Surani won a Très Bien award.

Advanced: Clara Zeithammel won a Supérieur award. Lauren Perry won a Très Bien award.

Extemporaneous Speaking in French
