Berdy Named One of Birmingham's "Smartest Women"
Julie Beckwith

Katherine Berdy, Director of Altamont's C. Kyser Miree Ethical Leadership Center, was named one of Birmingham's "smartest women" by The Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham in recognition for her outstanding work in the Miree Center. In honoring Mrs. Berdy, The Women's Fund writes, "Though the Miree Center is a fulfillment of The Altamont School's mission, the work and relationships extend well beyond Altamont's walls. This unique program has made a significant impact on our community. [Mrs. Berdy] helps students find their passions, stare down systemic societal problems, develop innovative solutions, and become change-makers."

Mrs. Berdy will be recognized at a "Smart Party" on October 12 at Iron City Birmingham. This event honors Birmingham's smartest women and is a fundraiser for The Women's Fund. Through collaboration, grantmaking, and advocacy, The Women's Fund connects mothers and their children to the missing pieces necessary for economic security, including post-secondary education, job skills training, career counseling, quality childcare, transportation, and safe housing. Tickets for the event may be purchased in Mrs. Berdy's honor at womensfund.smartparty.org/honorees.

Congratulations Mrs. Berdy on this well-deserved honor!
