APA Solo Competition Winners Perform in CKC

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, winners of the Altamont solo competition performed during a school-wide assembly in the Cabaniss-Kaul Center for the Arts. During open auditions last fall, winners of the competition were selected by guest judge Jay Tumminello, a professional musician and sound designer, arranger, and composer for Red Mountain Theatre Company. The solo competition is sponsored by the Altamont Parents Association (APA) and directed by Mr. Michael King.

Maddy Grier Hinds 5th grade, vocal: "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from the musical Annie

Sohana Caplash 6th grade, piano: "Rock, Bone, and Wood" from Impressions by Edwin McLean

Toby Conn 8th grade, violin: "La Folia" by Corelli

Surina Prabhu 11th grade, vocal: "Crazy" by Willie Nelson

Abby Lowe 12th grade, piano & vocal: "Sunflower" by Shannon Purser and "I Don't Want to be You Anymore" by Billie Eilish

Mary Allen Murray 12th grade, piano: "Ballade #1" by Chopin

McLean Bell 12th grade, vocal: "She Used to be Mine" by Sara Bareilles

Henry Chang 12th grade, piano: "Prelude in G Minor" by Rachmaninoff

Emma Lembke 10th grade, vocal: "When We Were Young" by Adelle

Daniel Eggers 10th grade, vocal: "Hold Me in Your Heart" by Cyndi Lauper from the musical Kinky Boots

Caitlin Cornelius (7th grade, vocal) was also a solo competition winner, but was unable to perform today.
