Band and Orchestra
Our Orchestra travels to compete at music festivals every spring. Here are students at the National Adjudicators Invitational in Atlanta.
Band and Orchestra students regularly participate in All-State and Honor Bands, like these students at Samford University’s annual Honor Band Festival.
Altamont holds many visual and performing arts events on campus every year, including orchestral and jazz band concerts, banquets and showcases.
We are one of the few schools in the state to offer an Orchestra program. Our students travel across the Southeast to compete at music festivals as well as into the Birmingham community to perform at local elementary schools. Students can also participate in the Pep Band, which plays at big home volleyball and basketball games!
Our ensembles include Beginner Strings, Beginner Band, Middle School Jazz Band, Middle School Orchestra, Upper School Jazz Band, and Upper School Orchestra. Two popular non-performing music classes are Studio Recording & Songwriting and Music History & Theory.
Jazz Band and Orchestra Concerts
The 7th-8th Grade Jazz Band, the Upper School Jazz Band and the Orchestra perform winter and spring concerts winter concerts each year, with selections ranging from classics to contemporary.
