FAQ

  • Why give to Altamont?

The Annual Fund makes great achievements possible for our students. It covers the difference between tuition and fees and the actual cost of operating the school. It funds the teachers who provide a nurturing and stimulating intellectual environment. It funds the upkeep of classrooms and athletic facilities that were the backdrop last year of an outstanding year of both academic and athletic achievements. Finally, it funds the dreams of our students, whether they are to study Greek, hurl a shotput, or both, as is so often the case at this school of multi-talented children. Each gift to the Annual Fund, regardless of size, is a powerful statement to the impact Altamont has on us all.

  • Can I give a gift that is designated for scholarships?

Yes. You can designate your gift for scholarships. For more information about designating a gift or establishing a scholarship in honor or memory of a loved one, please contact Susan Driggers at (205) 445-1225.

  • Can I make my gift with appreciated stock?

Yes. We welcome gifts of appreciated securities. Please contact us, or have your broker contact us, at the Annual Fund Office so that we can credit your stock gift appropriately. For optimal tax deductions, it is imperative that you transfer the stock to the Altamont School rather than selling the stock and sending the proceeds. • What is the Senior Gift?

The Senior Gift is a designated, one-time gift given by the families of the Senior Class. It is separate from the Annual Fund; that is, it is not used for the annual operating costs of the school. The Senior Class decides the monetary goal and purpose of the gift. For more information, please call the Senior Gift coordinator, Abby Dupuy at (205) 445-1232 or email her at adupuy@altamontschool.org.
