- The Mikado April 2007
The Altamont Choir, led by Dewin Tibbs, performed a beautiful production of The Mikado. This is the story of Nanki-poo, a Japanese prince in disguise, who tries to win the hand of the national executioner’s beautiful ward named Yum-Yum. Memorable songs include “Three Little Maids from School” and “Tit Willow.” The young singers worked hard to master the intricate music and witty lyrics of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta. Principal roles of Nanki-poo and Yum-Yum were played by Walker Beauchamp and Palmer Miller. An outstanding supporting cast included Phil Lovinguth as Ko-Ko, Steven Johanson as Pooh-Bah, Evan Shields as Pish Tush. Joining Palmer Miller as the other little maids were Rachel Satterwhite as Pitti-Sing and Mary Alice Reilly as Peep-Bo. Nanki-Poo’s former fiancé, Katisha was played by Libby Swift. Carl Sosnin portrayed The Mikado.
