An Altamont Education

At Altamont we strive to foster in our students the moral fiber, the intellectual curiosity, the self-discipline, and the awareness of individual abilities and limitations necessary for them to achieve success in school and beyond.

Our academic program and supplemental activities are carefully structured to achieve that end.

Students are encouraged to take intellectual risks and explore academic interests surrounded by the safety net of a caring faculty, each of whom serves as an advisor to ten students on average.

Intellectual and cultural opportunities abound in the school and community. The many school clubs operate with a community service imperative. Regular assembly programs at the daily Activities Period, field trips around the city and state, and holiday tours within the United States and abroad offer students a broad cultural exposure. The annual tour of New England or Atlantic Seaboard and Southeastern colleges, as well, contributes significantly to Altamont's college preparatory mission.
